NAHEWD is a Leadership Council member of the AIDS United Public Policy Council.
Opioid Response Network (ORN)

The Opioid Response Network (ORN) was created to support efforts in addressing the prevention, treatment, and recovery of opioid use disorder. ORN provides resources and technical assistance locally in communities across the United States and its territories. NAHEWD is 1 of 27 national professional organizations participating in the coalition. Visit the ORN website to submit a request.
In 2020, as part of ORN and in partnership with the regional AETCs, NAHEWD conducted a virtual HIV/HCV/SUD Triple Threat series. An infographic was developed to demonstrate the impact of the series. Click here to view the infographic.
NAHEWD has developed a brief slide set to introduce substance use disorder providers to the issues of HIV and HCV screening and prevention, recognizing the important role that substance use disorder providers play in these areas. American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP)

The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) is the premier national professional organization for Addiction Psychiatrists, physicians, and allied health professionals dedicated to education, training, research and policy in the field of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental disorders. NAHEWD is a participant of the Opioid Response Network (ORN) – a SAMHSA funded program.
American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM)

The American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) is a professional organization that supports the HIV practitioner and promotes accessible, quality care for all Americans living with HIV disease. NAHEWD has partnered with AAHIVM to develop curricula on HIV and HCV for Walgreens pharmacists nationwide.
Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS)

PCSS, in response to the opioid epidemic, trains primary care providers in the evidence-based prevention and treatment of opioid use disorders (OUD) and treatment of chronic pain. NAHEWD promotes PCSS throughout its network and contributes to the PCSS steering committee.

Walgreens boasts more than 200 locations within health centers, over 100 of them focus on HIV/AIDS and over 700 HIV specialized pharmacies in highly impacted communities across the country. NAHEWD has developed curricula for Walgreen’s pharmacists nationwide, including an online training for all Walgreens pharmacists on HIV and HCV.

Center of Excellence for Transgender Health

The CoE works to improve the overall health and well-being of transgender individuals by developing and implementing programs in response to community-identified needs. NAHEWD partnered with the Center on a national conference funded by the Office on Women’s Health; “Advancing Trans Women’s Health: A Symposium to Improve Access to High Quality HIV Prevention & Care Services”.
