Session: Evidence-Based Treatments for Chemsex Use Disorders
Presenter: Jona Tanguay, MMSc, PA-C, AAHIVS
Description: Chemsex, the use of substances before or during sex to enhance or enable the experience, is a prevalent practice in sexual and gender diverse (SGD) people. Evidence-based treatments and safety interventions exist for these substances but are under-utilized due to factors including lack of provider knowledge, drug labeling, and misconceptions regarding the etiology of substance use disorders. In this case-based workshop, participants will learn and apply pharmacotherapeutic and counseling interventions for disordered Chemsex use that are supported by clinical research.
